There is nothing more beautiful to me than the rawness of the human spirit. No matter who we are, where we are from or where we go next, we carry narratives about ourselves that impact our experiences and the way we show up in the world. Humans are social beings, which means that the quality of our relationships directly influences our quality of life and overall sense of wellness. However, many of us were never taught the importance of nurturing a strong and healthy relationship with the self, first. I am passionate about empowering clients to reclaim their stories, get in touch with themselves and live in ways that align with their truest values.
I practice from a relational attachment-based perspective and incorporate therapeutic approaches such as Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, with elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This approach allows me to support my clients as they navigate life’s challenges and work towards achieving their goals.
My philosophy of counselling can be summarized by the following quote: “The ways you have learned to survive, may not be the ways you wish to continue to live.” - Dr. Thema Bryant Davis
I have a Bachelor of Social Psychology and Masters in Counselling Psychology. I am certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (A.S.I.S.T.) and nonviolent crisis intervention. I have years of frontline experience working with high-risk youth and I am passionate about working with marginalized groups with a special interest in racialized individuals and women.
